LAGOS Releases "Alta Fidelidad," an Album of Self-Discovery and Emotional Depth
LOS ANGELES (RYM) - LAGOS, the innovative duo of Agustín Zubillaga and Luis Jiménez, embark on a new chapter with their highly anticipated second studio album, "Alta Fidelidad". The production is available now on all digital platforms.
"Dime Quién" is the album's lead single. Written by Agustín and Luis, the song is inspired by the board game Guess Who? and tells a story where questions arise that rule out a series of names until the correct person is found.
"Throughout life, you meet people, relationships come and go, and some have their good things, but they stop working for others, until little by little you learn, grow, and understand yourself, what you want, what you don't want, until you find the right person," explains the band.
"Alta Fidelidad" features twelve songs, including hits like "No Se Acaba Hasta Que Acabe" with the renowned Mexican group REIK and "Blanco y Negro", a collaboration with singer-songwriter Elena Rose, and "Tuvimos Futuro" which was released as a surprise in April, and is the counterpart to their hit "Tengamos Pasado", also included on the new album.
The album, written and produced by Agustín and Luis, has a high emotional charge where romantic relationships are addressed, from the infatuation stage to the complexities, fragility, and the end of life as a couple.
"Alta Fidelidad" marks the consolidation of LAGOS's sound and lyrics. It is the most personal album the duo has worked on and represents both a transition and a rediscovery of Luis and Agustín's musical facet.
"It's been a process to get to this album. It was a challenge for us, especially coming off the first album and songs like 'Mónaco' that were so successful. We had to rewrite [the album] practically twice. To realize that in that first attempt we were perhaps thinking more about the results than what the songs made us feel," shares Luis Jimenez.
According to the artist, the production is the result of a process of self-reflection, of "looking inward again and not being afraid to be ourselves, to have the courage to dare not to look outward, to look 100% inward, to make the most personal, most intimate songs we could do, without trying to please anyone."
For Agustín Zubillaga, "Alta Fidelidad" represents a musical journey that helped them find their identity as a group.
"This album represents the consolidation of our identity as composers, as artists. The first album [Clásicos] was a lot of experimentation. This second album is undoubtedly our essence much more refined. We already feel much more comfortable with our voice, with our musical and lyrical language. At a musical level, it was a search for different influences, but above all, we drew influences from 80s pop," explains Agustín.
Musically, the production is influenced by the sound of the early eighties, represented by bands like TOTO and Tears for Fears, or singer-songwriters like Lionel Richie. Two instruments that defined the sound of eighties pop and rock were the backbone of "Alta Fidelidad". All the songs were produced with the classic Roland Juno 106 synthesizer and the LinnDrum drum machine, used by artists like Michael Jackson, Prince, Blondie, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, among others.
