This unexpected turn proved to be a pivotal moment in his career, as it allowed him to explore new sonic territories and experiment with different sounds.
Defying Expectations
Despite initial skepticism from the EDM establishment, Kēvens persevered. "When I played the Ultra Music Festival, I remember trying to get that gig. And some of the promoters in that time were like, why would we hire a reggae guy? We are like dance music oriented. Or DJs,” he recalled. However, Kēvens' unique blend of reggae and EDM proved to be a winning formula, captivating audiences and challenging the norms of the genre.
A Musical Maverick

"As for the lyrical content for the song, I was watching TV one day, I saw this veteran born in Mexico who got deported back to Mexico. I don't remember what the reason was, but all I know was really upset at seeing that because I was. I'm one who wanted to be in the military here," he explained. "Although I never got to make it into the military in the US And I really was upset at the idea of somebody who served in the army and got deported. I didn't think that was fair at all. Thinking that the creator of the world didn't create any barriers for any of us. And deep inside we are all one family. We might look different, but we are connected one way or another."

" And I wanted to make something that is worthy of anything glorious in the musical world. Also, that benefits mostly people around the globe because we are living in some very serious times right now where the division is rampant, racism is rampant, the killing is rampant, and climate crisis. We have so many things we have to worry about and we have to come together as brothers and sisters, whether you come from new or far. So the new album is what I'm most proud of," Kēvens shared.
