Houston Radio Stations to Offer On-Air Homenaje to Tejano Icon, Rodolfo “Fito” Olivares

HOUSTION, TX -(ESTRELLA MEDIA)- Rodolfo “Fito” Olivares, the cumbia legend behind quinceañera dance floor hits including “Juana La Cubana” and “El Colesterol” with his band Grupo La Pura Sabrosura, passed away on Friday, March 17 at age 75 after battling cancer. Estrella Media’s Houston radio stations La Raza (98.5/101.7) and El Norte (107.9) will pay tribute to the Tejano music icon on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., while his memorial service is being held during the same hours at Escapade 2001, 11903 Eastex Fwy, Houston, TX. Members of the public are welcome to attend and pay homage to the King of Cumbia throughout the afternoon and evening.
La Raza’s DJ El Toro will lead the on-air tribute to Olivares, playing some of his best-known songs and taking listener calls to talk about stories and songs in a homanaje to this beloved musical artist.
