HOLA MEXICAN FILM FESTIVAL 2022

The Hola Film Festival kicked off it’s 14th edition this weekend October 2nd at the Montalban in Los Angeles California. Known as “The largest Mexican film festival outside of Mexico” the event gathers over 10,000 “cinephiles” to present over 20 films and 20 short films over the course of 8 days. The festival will host the premieres of many of the films as well as red carpet galas with some of the biggest actors and directors of the Mexican film industry.

Gustavo Mohen and Danae Reynaud walked down the red carpet Sunday for opening night of the Hola Film Festival in Los Angeles. The pair attended in accordance with the premiere of Mohen’s latest film, “Lecciones Para Canallas”. 

Sinopsis: “After the sudden death of her mother, Jenny (Danae Reynaud) travels to Mexico City in search of her father: Barry el Sucio (Joaquín Cosío), a charismatic con man who abandoned her as a child. Barry introduces her to his world by revealing the tricks of “the trade”, accompanied by Marisela (Diana Bovio), her girlfriend and her cunning accomplice. When Barry and Marisela plan the next big scam, Jenny must decide if she wants to be a part of her tricky father’s way of life or return to her normal life. Let the lessons begin!”

Following Mohen and Reynaud were director Rodrigo Arnaz and actress Gabriela De La Garza of “La Vida En Silencio”. 

Sinopsis: “Acclaimed actor Juan Manuel Bernal plays Fran, a

musician and single parent who struggles daily to communicate with his 10-year-old son with autism through music. However, his world is upended when the child’s mother returns after eight years of absence, only to reveal that he is not the kid`s biological father.”

Director Miguel Flatlow also appeared on the red carpet for his film “Va Por Diego”.

Sinopsis: “Pablo and Diego are brothers who work as dishwashers at a local bar and play soccer in the afternoons. On the way home from practice one day, Diego is the victim of a hit and run. Pablo and his widowed mother are unable to pay for the surgeries needed to keep Diego alive, which prompts Pablo to recruit a team of eclectic friends and enter a soccer tournament to win the $100,000 pesos prize to save his brother’s life. With the special guest appearance of Luis Hernandez ‘El Matador’ (Mexican soccer player).”

Actress Macarena Miguel also attended for “Un Retrato De Familia”. 

Sinopsis: “Mariano Avendaño has spent much of his life working in a renowned Mexican company. Don Joaquín, his boss, also one of his best friends, has decided to retire and offer the leadership of the company to Mariano. However, he also tries to make him see that his family is more important and that it’s with his wife and daughters that they should take advantage of the time that he still has left. Mariano realizes that he no longer fits into the lives of his loved ones and will try to reconnect with them in a comical, honest and sincere way, overcoming many obstacles, in order to feel like he belongs in his home again.”
