Los Angeles, California (September 29, 2024)- Calling all demigods! Disney+ has officially announced a new addition to the cast of their hit series "Percy Jackson and the Olympians." Tamara Smart, known for her role in "Resident Evil," will portray the beloved character Thalia Grace, daughter of the mighty Zeus.

Smart joins the series as a recurring guest star in season two, set to follow the adventures outlined in Rick Riordan's "The Sea of Monsters," the second book in the bestselling Percy Jackson series. Fans of the book will recognize Thalia as the demigod daughter of Zeus who made a valiant stand to protect her friends at Camp Half-Blood. Instead of succumbing to her fate, Zeus transformed her into a magical tree, anchoring the camp's protective force field.

Thalia is a complex character – tough and independent with a rebellious streak. Fiercely loyal to her friends, she harbors distrust towards the world of the gods, particularly her father.

"Percy Jackson" author Rick Riordan expressed his enthusiasm for Smart's casting, highlighting the importance of finding the right actress for this pivotal role. He praised Smart's portrayal of Thalia's strength, loyalty, and rebellious spirit, stating that she "was electric" in the role.

This casting holds a special significance for Smart. Having previously worked with the late Lance Reddick, who portrayed Zeus in season one, Smart reflects on the emotional connection. "It's so close to my heart," she shared. "Lance Reddick and I always spoke about working together again. To play his daughter once more... feels even more special and important."

Season two of "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" is currently filming in Vancouver, Canada, with a slated premiere on Disney+ in 2025. The series is executive produced by a talented team including Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, with a cast featuring Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, and many more.

While you wait for the next chapter in Percy's adventures, season one of "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" is currently available for streaming on Disney+. Don't miss out on this captivating adventure series based on the beloved books!
