Power outages are a major concern during extreme heat. Councilwoman Rodriguez reminds residents to report any outages immediately to the LA Department of Water and Power (LADWP) by calling 1-800-DIAL-DWP (1-800-342-5397) or visiting the LADWP website: https://www.ladwp.com/outages. This real-time information helps LADWP crews locate and restore power as quickly as possible.

Cool Down at Local Pools and Cooling Centers:

To offer relief from the scorching temperatures, Councilwoman Rodriguez has funded extended hours for several community pools throughout September. Additionally, cooling centers provide a safe haven for residents to escape the heat.

Here's a breakdown of the available resources:

  • Public Pools:

    • Ritchie Valens and Sylmar Recreation Center Pools: Open every weekend in September from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

    • Hansen Dam Aquatic Center: Open every weekend in September from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

  • Cooling Centers:

    • Sunland Senior Center: 8640 Fenwick St., Sunland, CA 91040. Hours: 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM

    • Pacoima Branch Library: 13606 Van Nuys Blvd., Pacoima, CA 91331. Hours: Saturday 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Sunday 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
